O U R P R O G R A M

It is our conviction that the best way to pass on the Faith to our children is to support parents in their irreplaceable role as PRIMARY educators of their child.

“The right and duty of parents to give education is essential… and it is irreplaceable and incapable of being entirely delegated to others.” (Familiaris Consortio, 36)
“Since parents have given children their life, they are bound by the most serious obligation to educate their offspring and therefore must be recognized as the primary and principal educators.” (Gravissimum Educationis, 3)

Our unique Two-Component Program combines traditional student and family catechesis events.

Component 1: Traditional Student Catechesis

In our Traditional Student Catechesis program, students will gather in classroom settings with other students to engage in classroom teachings, dialogue and discussions, activities, and opportunities for prayer with their classes. Classes meet on Thursday evenings (the first three Thursdays of the month unless otherwise noted — see the Religious Education calendar for details) from 6:00 - 7:00pm at St. John Fisher.

Component 2: Family Catechesis

Our unique Family Catechesis program offers the whole family an opportunity to grow in faith together. Through faith Jeopardy games, family Adoration hours, Catholic scavenger hunts, art projects, faith talks, and more, your family is given the time to grow as a domestic church through our program. The first portion of the afternoon typically consists of breakout sessions for different age groups while the parents gather for a talk. The second half of the afternoon is filled with a family activity that both strengthens faith and bonds the family together. These programs are held on the third Sunday of each month from 2:00 - 3:30pm at St. John Fisher.
